Job Summary:
The General Accountant plays a pivotal role within our finance team, expected to manage and execute financial and accounting operations accurately and professionally. Tasks include preparing periodic reports, reviewing accounts, and analyzing financial data to support strategic decision-making. The role requires deep knowledge of accounting principles, the ability to work in a dynamic multi-tasking environment, and commitment to local accounting regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare, record, and regularly review daily journal entries for all accounting operations.
- Prepare periodic financial reports and analyze variances between budgets and actual costs.
- Follow up on accounts receivable and payable, ensuring collections are made on time.
- Execute monthly bank reconciliations and ensure bank balances align with company records.
- Prepare Zakat and tax reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audit processes, providing required documents and files.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Contribute to improving the internal accounting system and suggest developmental measures when needed.
- Handle accounting software professionally and provide accurate financial data to senior management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized university.
- Minimum of five years of practical experience as a certified general accountant within accounting offices or legal auditing firms.
- Full proficiency in using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or any ERP systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle changing deadlines.
- Strong teamwork spirit and clear, precise communication skills.
- Familiarity with local laws and regulations related to Zakat and VAT.
